If you know parts, understand purchasing, and can spot a better way of doing things, this is an opportunity to put that experience to work across an entire equipment rental operation.

Vandalia Rental is looking for a Procurement Specialist – Parts to help us build a smarter, more efficient approach to parts procurement. You’ll work across our branches, service teams, suppliers, and SmartEquip to improve how we source parts, manage inventory, control freight costs, and support the equipment our customers depend on.

At Vandalia Rental, parts procurement directly affects whether equipment is ready to rent or sitting idle. We’re looking for someone who sees the bigger picture—someone who can connect parts availability, inventory, suppliers, freight, technology, and equipment uptime and make the entire process work better.

What You’ll Own

Parts Procurement & SmartEquip

Take ownership of the systems and processes behind how we purchase parts. Serve as our SmartEquip expert, improve vendor configurations, onboard suppliers, establish best practices, and find opportunities to make purchasing faster and more consistent across the company.

Inventory Strategy & Analytics

Turn parts data into action. Analyze usage, inventory levels, turns, returns, and obsolete inventory to help branches stock what they need without unnecessarily tying up capital. Establish stocking levels and reorder points based on actual demand.

Supplier Performance & Relationships

Build relationships with suppliers that deliver more than just parts. Evaluate pricing, service, availability, and performance; administer supplier scorecards; identify preferred vendors; and help us get greater value from our supplier partnerships.

Cost & Freight Optimization

Look for the dollars hiding in the process. Analyze freight trends, pricing consistency, branch transfers, returns, and purchasing activity to identify practical opportunities to reduce costs without sacrificing equipment availability.

Better Processes Across the Business

Work directly with branch operations, service, accounting, and vendors to solve problems and improve how parts move through the organization. When something isn’t working, we want someone who will figure out why and help build a better way.

Salary and Benefits

• Annual salary commensurate with experience and qualifications - $80,000+ annually
• Monthly bonus opportunity
• 401(k) - 100% match, up to 6% of your salary with no vesting period
• Medical, dental, vision insurances
• $50,000 life and AD&D policy at no cost
• PTO and paid holidays

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of experience in procurement, supply chain, inventory management, equipment operations, or a related field
• Experience with ERP or procurement software
• Equipment rental, heavy equipment, or fleet maintenance experience
• Vendor negotiation experience
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience developing business processes and standard operating procedures
• Strong communication and relationship-management skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel
• SmartEquip experience preferred
• Must be authorized to work in the United States
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position

Make an Impact Beyond the Purchase Order.

If you like solving problems, working with data, negotiating with suppliers, and seeing the operational impact of your decisions, this is a role where your work will be noticed.

Know the Iron. Know the Market. Make the Deal.

You know equipment. You know what it's worth. You know when a machine is worth fixing—and when it's time to move it. And chances are, you've built a network of people who pick up the phone when you call.

If you've built your career selling construction equipment, rental fleet, agricultural machinery or heavy equipment, this is an opportunity to put that experience to work in a different way. You understand how age, hours, condition, specifications, geography and market demand affect equipment value.

You'll work across our organization to identify equipment sales opportunities, establish market value, find buyers, develop wholesale relationships, manage retail opportunities and auctions, and determine the best path to market.

What You'll Own

Used Equipment Sales & Disposition

Drive used equipment sales through retail, wholesale and auction channels. Identify equipment that should be moved and determine the right time, price, buyer and sales channel. Proactively identify opportunities before unnecessary repair dollars are invested while balancing sales opportunities against the needs of the rental fleet.

Build the Buyer Network

Develop and maintain relationships with equipment wholesalers, contractors, auction partners and other industry buyers. Expand our reach beyond our existing markets and create additional outlets for equipment so we're not dependent on one buyer, one auction or one sales channel.

Know What the Equipment Is Worth

Be the eyes and ears in the used-equipment market. Monitor equipment values, auction results, market demand, geographic differences and pricing trends. Develop pricing benchmarks and use real market intelligence to help determine what our equipment is worth and where it will bring the greatest return.

Own the Deal

Manage opportunities from identification through completed sale. Respond to retail inquiries, develop quotes, negotiate with buyers and coordinate third-party financing resources when appropriate. Make sure equipment is accurately represented through photos and descriptions and work with our internal teams to keep deals moving. Use Salesforce to track opportunities, quotes, buyer activity and results so we can build a stronger, more disciplined used-equipment sales operation.

Maximize Fleet Value

This role goes beyond selling machines. Work with Asset Management and our branch teams to identify equipment that should be sold, retained or repositioned based on market demand, shop load, equipment condition and rental needs. Order, stock and position minor and bulk inventory across all branches.

Salary and Benefits

• Annual salary commensurate with experience and qualifications - $95,000+ annually
• Monthly bonus opportunity
• 401(k) - 100% match, up to 6% of your salary with no vesting period
• Medical, dental, vision insurances
• $50,000 life and AD&D policy at no cost
• PTO and paid holidays

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Equipment Management, Supply Chain or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in equipment sales, heavy equipment, equipment rental, agricultural equipment, fleet management or a closely related field.
• Experience using a CRM system to manage sales activity, opportunities and customer relationships. Salesforce experience preferred.
• Knowledge of equipment valuation and used-equipment market pricing.
• Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills.
• Ability to travel approximately 20% as business needs require.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the position.

We're interested in people who know equipment—not just people who know sales. What's it worth? Who needs it? And how do I put the deal together? If that's how you think about used equipment, we should talk.

At Vandalia Rental providing the best quality rental equipment to our customers is paramount to our success. Behind that success is a team of skilled mechanics who make it all possible.
